I was just watching some yahoo/  fox (faux news) clips about Acorn. I don’t know much about Acron yet but I’ll read more about them for sure. It was really funny though the snippet i watched.  It was the Glen Beck show whatever it is called and his guest Bill O’Rlly? was playing this bizarre role of being the sort of moderate guy, it was insane. So Beck would say something completely nuts and conspiracy theorist and then Billo’ would chime in with something bizarre and right wing but set against the crazy thing so it sounded reasonable. So Beck would say something like “acorn want america to be in crisis so they can take over the world” and Billo’ would respond with something like “that’s crzy all they want is socialism and… social justice!”.

It was so weird to hear “social justice” being used as a negative thing, those lefties and their social justice! I mean I don’t know if I’m crazy or if I’ve been brought up on the extreme left or something but to me social justice sounds like a perfect thing. Justice is a gret thing and if it’s social it’s for everyone the whole of society, that sounds bliss!

Then Orlly? still being the “resonable” one in this little double act expands on what this “social justice” means. Social justice is taking money from Billo and giving it to heroin addicts and layabouts and if they don’t stand against it the USA could turn into Denmark! The irony being that in the List of countries by GDP (nominal) per capita Denmark is 5th highest and the USA is 10th, maybe a bad example by Billo but he does get the facts wrong often.

So we’ve signed up to this “Land Expo” held by Linden lab, I guess we try and whore our wares to anyone that will listen for a few days. I signed up because it just felt like something I should do, show face and all that jazz. our spot is right next to Fantasyland who are huge, probably one of if not the biggest estates in Second Life. Across the way is Ninjaland who also are pretty big fish in mainland and have a bit of the estate thing going on, I don’t know much about that. So sandwiched between them what should I do? I thought closing down sale might be a good idea, everything must go, buy our lands please.

The email we got about it was rather funny, considering this was a group of people who collectively hand LL hundreds of thousands of dollars each month (using a rough guestimation) the tone was more like a teacher speaking to a child, always is with LL though they don’t really get the customer / service provider relationship or the business to business one. So it was like “don’t argue with your neighbours or we’ll split you up” and “if you see Brent linden DO NOT DISTURB HIM!!!!” as if we all aren’t busy enough trying to eek out a few shekels from Second Life while the lab move the goal posts.

The latest about turn land policy was grandfathering homestead prices, giving people over a month to stock up on the low rate ones at the land store, and people feeling like they were done a favour. It was so unbelievably badly handled  but then it had Jack at the front of it so that is no surprise at all, how long has this guy got left?

So back to the expo, I don’t know what we’ll do, I asked my friend Marianne if she could rustle up a few nice shots of mainland, she does excellent photography so I though that would help with my message “come to mainland, it isn’t that shit, honest” which I think is a catchy slogan. I might just do something a bit surreal, that might be good, have a circus or something. Anyway its on June 9th or something so updates will come.

I decided to wrap up my previous site, I really wanted a change in my online life, less busy. So welcome to snap.sl, a cheeky nod to the virtual world that spawned this new identity, this entirely new person named Ewan Mureaux. The irony is that I am slowly withdrawing from that world, increasing my time in the real world and looking for new ways to spend my time, that’s sort of what this is about. I felt the time was right to start writing again for a lot of reasons, I feel my head is working again after being shut down for a couple of years. The last year or so I have drowned myself in ‘work’ as a distraction.

I suppose that over the coming weeks or months we’ll find out if I stick with this, I hope I do.
